Welcome to Mile! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Mile mobile application ("App") provided by Mile ("we", "our", or "us"). By using the App, you agree to these Terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Mile, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
Mile is a travel tracking application that:
- Lets you log trips with transportation and accommodation details
- Displays your journeys on an interactive world map
- Tracks travel statistics (countries, cities, distance)
- Creates shareable passport-style travel cards
- Syncs data across your devices via iCloud
3. User Accounts and Subscriptions
3.1 Free Tier
Mile offers a free experience with:
- Up to 5 trips
- All features available
- iCloud sync included
3.2 Premium Subscription
Premium features require a subscription:
- Mile Premium ($5.99/month): Unlimited trips
Subscriptions are billed through Apple's App Store. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings.
3.3 Subscription Terms
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
- Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
- Free trial period (if offered) will be forfeited when purchasing a subscription
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any illegal purpose
- Attempt to reverse engineer or modify the App
- Share your subscription with others
- Use automated systems to access the App
- Interfere with the App's operation or security
5. Content and Data
5.1 Your Data
You retain ownership of all travel data you enter into Mile. You are responsible for the accuracy of information you enter.
5.2 Data Storage
Your data is stored locally on your device and synced via iCloud. We do not store your travel data on our servers.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:
- The App will be uninterrupted or error-free
- Distance calculations will be perfectly accurate
- The App will meet your specific requirements
7. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MILE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
- Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- Loss of data
- Any damages exceeding the amount you paid for the App in the last 12 months
8. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Mile from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.
9. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without notice, for any reason, including violation of these Terms. Upon termination:
- Your right to use the App ceases immediately
- No refunds will be provided for unused subscription time
- Your data remains on your device and iCloud
10. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
12. Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising from these Terms or the App shall be resolved through:
- First, informal negotiation
- If unresolved, binding arbitration in San Francisco, California
- You waive the right to participate in class actions
13. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

15. Apple-Specific Terms
As an App distributed through Apple's App Store:
- Apple is not responsible for the App or its content
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support
- In case of failure to conform to warranties, you may notify Apple for a refund (if applicable)
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims related to the App
- Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms
